Accounting Specialist (part-time, in-offce)

SCOTTSDALE, AZ

Accounting Specialist

Part-Time | In-Office | 20–30 Hours Per Week

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, dependable Accounting Specialist to join our Finance & Accounting team and provide hands-on support across a variety of accounting functions.

This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and being a key part of a collaborative team. Rather than focusing exclusively on one area such as Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable, the Accounting Specialist will work across the accounting department to help keep day-to-day operations running smoothly and ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and well organized.

The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and proactive, with strong attention to detail and the ability to shift priorities as business needs change. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to month-end close, reconciliations, general ledger activities, reporting, process improvements, and special projects while gaining broad exposure to the accounting function.

This is an in-office position and is not remote. The expected schedule is 20–30 hours per week.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide general accounting support across the Finance & Accounting department.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare and maintain account reconciliations and investigate variances or discrepancies.
  • Prepare, enter, and maintain journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance and research accounting transactions.
  • Provide support to AP and AR teams during periods of increased workload or coverage needs.
  • Perform cash and other balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Assist with fixed asset schedules and related accounting activities.
  • Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, and other recurring accounting schedules.
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with financial and management reporting as assigned.
  • Respond to audit requests and provide accurate supporting documentation.
  • Maintain organized, complete, and well-documented accounting records.
  • Cross-train within the accounting department to provide coverage and continuity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and assist with implementing accounting procedures.
  • Take on special projects and other accounting-related responsibilities as needed.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
  • Experience with account reconciliations and researching accounting transactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Dependable, flexible, and willing to step in where the team needs support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience working with an ERP or accounting system.
  • Experience supporting month-end close.
  • Experience preparing journal entries and working with the general ledger.
  • Experience in a multi-entity, growing, or fast-paced environment.

What Makes This Role Different

This isn’t a narrowly focused AP, AR, or Staff Accountant position. The Accounting Specialist is a flexible, general accounting resource who works across the department and helps wherever support is needed.

You’ll gain exposure to multiple areas of accounting, work alongside experienced finance professionals, and play an important role in maintaining accurate and efficient financial operations.

If you’re someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in getting the details right, and likes being the person your team can count on, we’d love to hear from you.
